Showing Suggestions to Help Sell Your House
These simple tips for preparing your house for sale can make all the difference.
- Tidy up the grounds, porches and garage. Keep the lawn trimmed and edged. Make sure the yard is clear of refuse.
- The front door gives a vital first impression. Make sure it is a good one.
- Keep windows dressed with fresh looking window treatments, and beds made with attractive spreads.
- If any decorating is needed, do it now! Especially in the kitchen and bathrooms – two rooms which influence a sale. A $20 investment in paint may generate a price increase of $100!
- Keep all stairs (inside and out) clear and hazard-free.
- Illumination is a welcome sign – keep all light sockets filled with working bulbs, and left on for an evening showing to create the feeling of glowing warmth.
- Dishes should be washed, and put away, as should all clothing. Keep the beds made. All newspapers/papers should be straightened or disposed of. All garbage should be taken out.
- Keep pets out of the way – one prospect will be annoyed, while another will have their attention diverted.
- Whenever possible, avoid being present during showings – your presence may cause the potential buyer to feel like an intruder. Whenever impossible, neither you nor your children should tag along on the tour.
- Leave your house showings to Pennsylvania realtor Mike Budzius and the FindAHomePA Team – whose business it is to sell, and who is knowledgeable of the buyer's requirements and the best ways to emphasize those features.
