Showing Suggestions to Help Sell Your House

These simple tips for preparing your house for sale can make all the difference.
  1. Tidy up the grounds, porches and garage. Keep the lawn trimmed and edged. Make sure the yard is clear of refuse.
  2. The front door gives a vital first impression. Make sure it is a good one.
  3. Keep windows dressed with fresh looking window treatments, and beds made with attractive spreads.
  4. If any decorating is needed, do it now! Especially in the kitchen and bathrooms – two rooms which influence a sale. A $20 investment in paint may generate a price increase of $100!
  5. Keep all stairs (inside and out) clear and hazard-free.
  6. Illumination is a welcome sign – keep all light sockets filled with working bulbs, and left on for an evening showing to create the feeling of glowing warmth.
  7. Dishes should be washed, and put away, as should all clothing. Keep the beds made. All newspapers/papers should be straightened or disposed of. All garbage should be taken out.
  8. Keep pets out of the way – one prospect will be annoyed, while another will have their attention diverted.
  9. Whenever possible, avoid being present during showings – your presence may cause the potential buyer to feel like an intruder. Whenever impossible, neither you nor your children should tag along on the tour.
  10. Leave your house showings to Pennsylvania realtor Mike Budzius and the FindAHomePA Team – whose business it is to sell, and who is knowledgeable of the buyer's requirements and the best ways to emphasize those features.
